There's also a Block Site app on the App Store, which you can set up in concert to the computer version. Block Site offers several useful tools, including the ability to block sites by words, password protection, and more. Under this scenario, website blocking is controlled exclusively by the extension.Ī recommended solution is Block Site, which is free for both Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome, and available in the Chrome Web Store. If you want to stick with a third-party web browser on Mac, perhaps the best solution would be to install an extension and bypass Screen Time altogether. This solution is great when dealing with younger kids, but might be more trouble than it's worth for older kids and teenagers since all sites are blocked by default. Under this scenario, when your kids attempt to visit a blocked site, they can request that you add it to the acceptable list. With this choice, delete third-party web browsers from your Mac.Ī second solution is to choose Allowed Websites Online in the Screen Time settings, then add acceptable web addresses to the list. First, if you can stay with Apple Safari and use Screen Time as it's been designed. Screen Time is currently an unacceptable solution for blocking adult sites on third-party web browsers on Mac. The same limitation is not present when using Screen Time on iPhone or iPad, which suggests more software work needs to be done in macOS.
